Springtime & Cherry Blossoms

Everywhere I turn it's pink. I drive Tyler to Georgetown and the streets are lined with magnificent Magnolia trees that don't just blossom, they flower...

I walk out of my apartment and I see these lavender beauties:

This is the view from my bedroom window:

And the cherry blossoms...oh the cherry blossoms.

Tyler and I went to the Tidal Basin on Sunday and Monday and were blown away by the amazing cherry trees. I had never heard of DC's cherry blossoms until we moved out here, but now I think it needs to be on everybody's bucket list to see DC when it's blooming, it's just breathtaking.

This is how this picture came to pass...

Lauren:  Would you mind taking a photo for us?
Old Man:  Sure. Anything in particular you want in the picture?
Lauren:  Yeah, if you could get the Washington Memorial in that'd be great.
Old Man:  No problem.

As you can see, there's no Washington Memorial in this pic, it's entirely concealed behind Tyler's head. Go figure.

Fortunately we were able to get one the next day.

I am IN LOVE with springtime! It's 70 degrees every day and it smells like a flower shop outside. I feel like I'm on vacation and I never want it to end.

3 years

From then....

...to now
Three years later and still so in love.

It's crazy to think of all the amazing things we've been able to do between then and now, we've been blessed to have so many adventures. We've traveled through 8 countries together, both graduated from college, applied and got into medical school, moved across the country, gone on so many fun family vacations, learned to play tennis, skied, river rafted, rock climbed...the list goes on and on. Through thick and thin there's nobody I'd rather have by my side. I love you so much Ty!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Wonderful Husband

Not only is Tyler handsome and smart and better at cleaning the bathroom than me, he is also quite the chef. While I was busy with work the other day he went to Costco for me and made these beauties for dinner:

Delicious fajitas complete with hummus and homemade pita bread. So basically I have the best husband ever and I just thought I'd brag about him a little since I don't do it enough.  Love you babe!

Serendipity

I had a lovely evening sipping frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity with these ladies. Love girl's nights! We must do it again soon.

p.s. I think one of my favorite parts about this evening is that we chatted on G Chat to decide when and where to meet, then we split the bill and paid with cash. It made me feel like I was in junior high again :)

Valentine's

Tyler's family has the tradition of snowmobiling at Yellowstone over  President's Day weekend, which almost always falls around Valentine's Day. (lame, right?) So I think this is the first year that we've done something on the actual holiday. We both got each other Valentine's, mine was cheesy and Tyler's was so sweet. Then I made a nice dinner followed by cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory and a movie.

I love you so much babe and can't believe that this is our fifth Valentine's we've spent together!

Friends

We had some friends over the other night and it turned into an impromptu birthday party.

Date Night

Tyler was so sweet and took me on a surprise date. We went to a classical music performance at the Kennedy Center, followed by dinner at a Turkish restaurant in Georgetown. It was so fun! (minus the mouse that joined us for dinner, yes, I said mouse. I ate with my feet on a chair most of the evening.)
