New Orleans

My dad had a conference down in New Orleans this past weekend and he and my mom were nice enough to invite Tyler and I to tag along. We had a blast seeing all the sights, attending the conference events, spending time with my parents and eating delicious food.

We should have taken more pictures of us eating because that's pretty much what our trip revolved around. We had to try all of the dishes: po-boys, shrimp et tu fe, beignets, bananas foster, gumbo, jumbalaya, and the list goes on and on.

We got to see this stunning plantation with hundred plus year old oak trees.

We got dressed up for a delicious dinner and a Michael McDonald concert. Tyler and I felt a little out of place but we had a blast being entertained by all of the drunk judges and lawyers breaking it down.

Cafe du Monde has been in the French Quarter for 150 years and they make some killer beignets.

We had a few too many of these while we were there but it was definitely worth it

The bayou tour was definitely the highlight of our trip. It was so beautiful and we saw all sorts of fun creatures, alligators, turtles, snakes and all sorts of birds. We had Princess and the Frog stuck in our heads the whole time. "Going down the bayou."

Believe it or not people, namely Cajuns, still live right in the bayou and live off the land. Our tour guide was Cajun and grew up in the bayou eating alligator and swamp gumbo. He said he didn't know what a pizza was until he was 16 years old!

St. George

Tyler and I headed to St. George for one of his buddies weddings and took advantage of the perfect weather.

Tyler was SO excited that there was sugar cereal at my grandparents' condo. He said, "I'm sick of all this wheat, fiber, make-you-poop-good crap that we have at our house."

Tyler is incredibly talented at Rock Band. Especially when it comes to impersonating the Beatles. We were almost in tears laughing.

We definitely had our doubts but Ty and Connor pulled through for us and that frosting was delicious.

24!

I can't believe my wonderful husband is 24 years-old! Tyler's birthday lasted a whole weekend. On Saturday, his actual birthday, we went out to lunch, shopping for a new swimming suit and then went out to dinner and for a hike with Mike and Amy.

On Sunday we had waffles for breakfast and Tyler's mom had all of us over for a delicious meal.

Monday, after family swim day, we had a wonderful BBQ at my parents house.

After which we headed to Ty's favorite ice cream joint...Nelson's Frozen Custard.

Thanks friends and family for a wonderful birthday weekend for Tyler! We love you all!

Donut Falls

We were lucky enough to hike to Donut Falls with Carrie and Andrew! We even got to go into the cave that looks like the donut. It was beautiful and we had a blast!

Veggie Garden

Tyler and I spent Memorial Day planting a vegetable garden. It was a lot of work, as the area used to be covered by grass, but definitely worth it.

Tyler was a true redneck by the end of the day.

Hopefully we'll get some yummy vegetables if we can keep all of the snails away.

Sharp Shooters

I used to be terrified of guns so I thought it would be good to learn how to use them. We borrowed some from Blair and headed to a range with some friends. We had lots of fun and I think I've conquered my fear!
